In the small anchorage there are numerous old rock carvings that bear witness of the importance Granhamn had as an anchorage in earlier times, this was the place where the sailors waited for favourable winds so they could launch their attacks. Granhamn was an excellent last anchorage before going to Finland and Russia. The most impressive rock carving tells us that here the Swedish navy kept guard against emperor Napoleon's pirates in 1811.
