Lilla Husarn nature reserve |
Lilla Husarn is a nature reserve. Included in the reserve are the islands,Husarholmen, Simpskallen, Stora and Lilla Saltkråkan and Stora and Lilla Kråkskären. Skärgårdsstiftelsen purchased this archipelago in 1992. There are few good anchorages in this area except in this nature reserve and this is one of the reasons why this archipelago has become so popular among yachtsmen. Another reason is that several fairways meet here, from N across Nämdöfjärden, and from NW across Ingaröfjärden.
The islands are open and have a sparse growth of windswept pine trees, in protected areas also leafy groves and swamps.
The islands have a rich bird population. Stora Saltkråkan, Husarholmen and surrounding skerries are important habitats for sea birds like eider duck, tufted duck and merganser.
