Furusund
59'39,7 N - 18'55,3 E

Furusund has it's own place in the history of Swedish litterature. The famous Swedish author August Strindberg was inspired by the environment and the people of Furusund when he wrote some of his masterpieces.

Astrid Lindgren once saw a horse on a porch here and that inspired her to one of the characters in the books about Pippi Longstockings!

And in the 1930's Swedens most popular folklore artist, Evert Taube, used to perform on the restaurant.

Furusund is an old pilot- and custom-house, most active during the 19th century as an exclusive spa and many of the houses from that time are very well preserved. You can also find the oldest rock-carving of the archipelago, a compass.

Hotel, restaurants, postoffice and a café with great view of the ocean. The Telegrafmuseum is open in the summer. Bus, car or boat from Stockholm. Or choose the steamboat Blidösund, the only one of its kind!
