 Sangenjo Pontevedra

A new marina has opened on the north-west coast of Spain, making a secure port of call on passages between Biscay and Portugal. Porto Mar, in the town of Sangenjo, is located near the mouth of the Ria de Pontevedra. The marina has 600 berths protected by an 800 m breakwater offering good shelter from all winds and the Atlantic swell.

Facilities are currently basic, but a new building is due to be finished soon. Fuel, water, electricity and a 50-ton travel hoist are all available, along with a yacht club, banks, restaurants and shops. For those looking for a place for crew changes, Santiago is the nearest international airport, 40 km away.

"There is a large (500 + berth) marina at Sangenjo. There are nine pontoons plus a substantial amount of space for alongside berths. Water and electricity on the pontoons. The pontoons and fingers are large and solid by any standards. Showers and toilets at present are temporary. Prices are comparable to other marinas with finger pontoons in Spain (Cantabrico and Gijon) ie about £13 for a 34 foot yacht.
Shelter is excellent, they have extended the previous harbour wall/breakwater the end of which is now marked by a Fl R light. There is  a fuel berth in a temporary position but this and a travel hoist will be located near the harbour entrance."
