Cangas de Morrazo

Cangas de Morrazo is located at the mouth of the Vigo estuary.

Cangas is an ancient fishing village with a very pleasant esplanade which skirts the port. The town's history has been scarred with cruel and bloody events during the 16th and 17th centuries when it was the object of successive pirate attacks. In the course of one especially cruel attack, most of the masculine population was killed, causing many of the women to go mad. The survivors, in many cases, had to face the accusations of being bewitched and some even ended up on the burning stakes of the Inquisition.
