Swinoujscie (Swinemuende) 53°55' N - 14°15 ' E |
Swinoujscie is one of the most important ports of Poland. Big cargo ships and passenger ferries call the port. The traffic southwards to Szczecin is also significant. In the town you will find any service, but also long beaches at the sea-side of the town.

Swinemuende was mentioned for the first time in 1181, as a defense castle. The
port was mentioned first at 1297. 1648
Swinemuende came in the hands of Sweden In 1720, again in the hands of Prussia, the port
was developed (1738 - 1780).
In Swinemuende, one of the first German Baltic baths was started in 1825.
From the seaside resort enterprise 1890 resulted city-hurries Swinemuende - to
bath. In 2. World war Swinemuende was destroyed over 50 %.
By the Potsdamer conference 1945 Swinemuende was turned over to Poland and bears now the name
Swinoujscie.
Directly at the port is still the old breakwater. The lighthouse, 1854 - 1857 built by Prussia, is the highest of the entire Polish Baltic coast, with 68 m. The city hall originates from that 19th century, it accommodates today a museum for fishing. In the 18th century the main church was built and contains an old wooden ship's model from the year 1814 and Gotic sculptures.
The seaside resort directly at the Baltic
Sea is worth attention. It is a footpath from approximately 2 to 2.5 km. Here life takes
place in the evening at the old
mansions and Cafés. On the way to the
sea-promenade you will pass the kurpark laid out by Linné.

The city centre lies west the Swina on the island Uznam (Usedom) and thus directly at
the border to Germany. This border is passable only for pedestrians at the
transition after Ahlbeck and Bansin.
A smaller part of the place is east of the Swine on the island of
Wolin (Wollin)
Approaching from Szczecin (Stettin) or from Trzebiez, you steer leading line towards Stettiner Haff, later the channel Mielinski (emperor travel).
Approaching from the Baltic you steer towards a prominent windmill at 170° on the W mole head.
Approaching from the lake into the Swina, the border inspection point is on the east bank.
Moorings at a jetty in the city port, "Marina Orion", it has about 20 moorings for visitors.
The business of the city centre is directly with the couch places. Water gives it here. Diesel against it must be gotten by the gas station with cans. One may use the toilets of a small restaurant directly at the moorings. A container with toilets and a shower is available for a fee.
