Hvaler |
The Hvaler Archipelago is the summer paradise many long for during the cold winter evenings. There are 550 islands and islets scattered in the sea from the Swedish border to Kråkerøy.
With small fishing habours and numeros summer retreats for thousands of guests staying here for the brief Norwegian summer, the archipelago is home to just a few thousand local residents for the rest of the year. It is, according to statistics, one of the sunniest places in Norway.
You can reach the Archipelago by car or by boat. By car the road across Stokken takes you all the way to Skjærhallen at Kirkøy. The 3,755-metre tunnel between Asmaløy and Kirkøy is interesting, but above ground, the scenery is even better as you drive along route 108. Remember to bring cash for the tolls: at Stokken it costs Nok 50 for a family car and NOK 100 for a larger vehicles. It is well worh it, belive us!Read more about Hvaler
