Borre municipality's 23,600 residents live in and around the maritime town of Horten, the artist enclave of Åsgårdstrand and the villages of Nykirke, Skoppum and Kirkebakken. It covers 71 sq. kilometres and has 40 kilometres of coastline. Horten is the administrative and commercial centre of the municipality, with a population of approx. 17,000.
