Norway

Norway is a land that strikes into the soaring spaces of the soul. The glacier-carved fjords and brooding coastline seem designed to remind us of our transiency, our little lives that fall within the big, glorious epic of the Earth. Yes, Norway is nature, but it is culture too. The people here have done unusually well at integrating old styles and traditions with a modern outlook.

Sailing in Norway

The Norwegian coast has 1000's of small and large islands with 1000's of fjords and natural sheltered harbours. These well protected waters are ideal for cruising and sailing. The distance between the islands vary from a few hundred yards to a few nautical miles.

Norway is on the Arctic circle, but during the summer months, in June, July and August the weather is mostly nice and warm, without being hot. The water temperature allows for short swims.

In southern Norway we cannot actually see the midnight sun. However, at midnight the sun is just below the horizon. And the nights are bright and light. This means you can navigate all night through. During the summer the nights are never darker than on a dark and rainy autumn day.
