Expensive.
A 1st class restaurant, not much to look at from out side being in a
narrow street but it opens out into a beautiful courtyard Very classy
but well worth the money, when I say expensive its relative, I would
have paid at least twice as much at home for a similar meal and service
I think we paid about 21,000 ptas for a meal for four in 1998 (including
wine and after dinner drinks) |

the
one we liked best is called the "Glass House" right in
front of the beach. The other two in the square are not so good but we

The best food there,
including Menorcan specialities, is found in "Acuario". This
was the most popular of all the 3 restaurants. |

This
restaurant is located down the cliff side to the left as you take the
main drag into Arenal town centre. It is the first restaurant you will
come to, about 200 metres before the main cluster of 'family pizza
restaurants'. It is not immediately visible from the road as it is set
down the hill below eye level, but there is a sign and menu displayed at
the roadside. The set menu at 1850 pts [as of 2000] for 3 courses with a
glass of wine, I considered very reasonable, (especially as my children
ate and enjoyed everything). The surroundings are delightful with
wonderful views from the terrace over the bay (go early or book for an
outside table). The service is also excellent with friendly and helpful
staff. many thanx
"I would stress
that this is by far the best restaurant in the resort (we tried

Biniancola just a short distance from Punta Prima at the South East
corner of the island. On the 2 occasions that we have been to Bar
Adrian, we have been made to feel as welcome as regular, nightly
visitors (which we would be if we holidayed within easy distance of the
restaurant). As I said, we were made to feel most welcome and were
presented with a varied menu of fish, meat, Paella (book in advance),
pasta.....oh it goes on.Our meals were served piping hot and in a most
grand manner showing how proud the members of the family who run the
restaurant are of their establishment. |

For service and choice we
enjoyed this best. The bar is open until 2am and is small but friendly, very
popular when there is live football on the tele. The restuarant does an
excellent set Sunday menu as well as having the best variety during the week.
You get good portions for your money and Nini, the waitress is among the most
friendly you could meet. |

Although

the food here is good and fairly well priced, a three course meal for
three with wine came to about 8,000 pts (32 pounds), the only drawback
were the desserts that came ready made from the freezer (except for the
crepes), but on the plus side they do cater for children, there is a
clown that will keep the kids occupied for about an hour from 9 o'clock
pm. Generally I would suggest you avoid places that show pictures of the
food, they are a little cheaper but the quality is much lower, we tried
two of these places and paid about 7,000 pts (28 pounds) in each and
came away disappointed both times.

in
the Commercial Centre of Cala Blanca is a well run and extremely
friendly bar. Tony himself is usually around and is an excellent host
with time for everyone. They don't do food (although Tony owns the
restaurant opposite and keeps a close eye on this too) so this is the
ideal place if you want a proper pub. Locals use it - always a good
sign!
Tony is a Barcelona fan and
loves soccer, which is usually on in some form on the large screen tv.
However, this doesn't detract from the atmosphere as there is always
good music playing and the staff are very attentive. This is a bar for
the grown-ups, no novelties for the kids. And Tony`s Sangria is
more-ish! Outside seating is perfectly
placed for watching the Cala Blanca world going by on a warm evening.

Harbour |
You
aren't exactly short of restaurants in Mahon, but this deserves a
mention, possibly because of its setting by the water and for the fact
that is has an enormous floating pontoon that ensures that diners are
literally on the water. Excellent seafood, (particularly the
ubiquitous caldereta de langosta which was enormous) if not a little
overpriced, and a bit too
touristy for our liking.

What a real gem! Tucked
away in the perfect little town of Mercadel, you have to have your wits
about you to find it - turn of the main Ciutadella Mahon road by the
windmill, take the first left and park adjacent to the storm drain -
C'anolga is under the archway. Beautifully authentic Menorcan food
served with panache and style, enjoy a balmy evening amongst a
delightful Mediterranean garden with the scent of wild jasmine.
Highlights include roast kid and beef with wild truffles and the flavour
some local cheese, and the sautéed snails in garlic and balsamic
vinegar are worth the trip alone.
Not cheap by Menorcan standards (you get what you pay for), but an
equivalent UK cost of £40 [Cot 2000] for three courses, wine and
coffees for two people is amazing value. It was like eating with
friends. Can't recommend it highly enough. Remember to book
as tables are at a premium as the local folk treat it as theirs, lucky
devils. |

The narrow road up to Sa Roca
is clearly sign posted about half way between the Son Parc junction and
the junction with the Fornells to Es Mercadal road. It sits in
beautiful grounds high up in the hills in a small hamlet under the peek
of El Toro and is built around three sides of a court yard /swimming
pool with a grassy area on the forth side looking south, up to El Toro.
The outdoor tables are under cover of a veranda to offer shade from the
daytime sun. The whole courtyard area was bedecked with the most
stunning bougainvillaea when we visited in August. There is
also a large indoor restaurant for the evenings and cooler spells and
some limited accommodation is also available in a row of chalet style
rooms off of the central courtyard. I believe that these rooms are
fairly expensive. We found the food to be
excellent and easily on a par with what was available in nearby
Fornells. The price compared favourably with most of the
restaurants in Fornells, costing us about fifty pounds for three courses
and drinks for two adults and two younger teenagers. Free use of
the pool comes as part of the meal. We went for lunch and had no
difficulty getting in without booking. The same is not true of
evenings, when it is important to book in advance. The advantage
of a lunchtime visit is that one can stay for the afternoon an relax in
and around the pool in a very beautiful setting with just a few other
families - not at all crowded. A final bonus was the total lack of
pretentiousness that seems to accompany many of the restaurants in

boasts fantastic sea views ( the lighthouse on the Island opposite beams
its light across the shore, ideal for a Romantic dinner for two!)
We received excellent service together with very reasonable prices! |

This is the restaraunt on the far right of the
resort with lovely views. It is kept very clean and run by a really nice
English guy called Sean who was always very attentive.
'The food was great at about 1200pts
(June'01) for the main course. There wasn't any veggie dishes and they
were having trouble getting hold of some delicious deserts. Plenty of
the frozen kind though.' |

the food was great -
the steak was devine - tender, tasty & chargrilled. The
desserts were also great. Kids menu was interesting and varied
including mini kebabs, create your own pizza and mini cannelloni - much
more variety than the usual kids fayre. Prices were reasonable a meal
for 3 costing approx 7,500 pesetas including drinks. Well
recommended - the views from Las Palmeras is lovely and the area is
serviced by a mini train around the resort |

This restaurant and bar is new to the resort of Son Bou this season and
is ideal for people with young children or those who enjoy a lively and
relaxed atmosphere along with good value, but very tasty food. |

serves Italian, Spanish and the usual steaks etc. It is run by a group
of French women(?). They are all lovely to look at - so the place is
always busy.

Snacks - very cheap and huge portions. Kebabs with 2 eggs, salad and
chips= 650 pesetas (as at 2000). The service is a bit slow but who
cares!. |

The best food by far in Son Parc
is in the restaurant adjacent
to Sagitarios and reflected in the numbers and greater affluence of its
diners |

A fantastic pub to visit while
your there is the run by Drew & Zoe
(both from England). They are very friendly lovely people and its a
great night out. They do a good selection of food ie; Ribs, scampi,
curry, burgers and real english bacon..... Most nights they hold
competitions like Who wants to be a millionaire or there is live music
or you can watch football, motor racing on the large screen satallite
tv. The have a decent pool table and hold games of killer ect.... All in
all a great pub that once youv'e found your'll want to go back to time
and time again. It's situated just a few minutes walk from the sunset
strip down the road towards the spar. They are also very
ready for the mosquito's that sometimes come with the area( due to the
tree's) and have nets up at the windows, fans and mosquito / fly killer
electric machines up on the ceiling. So you can actually sit back and
relax instead of worrying about being eaten by these pesky bugs |
