Santa Ponca

Santa Ponca peacefully nestles in the hills, almost surrounded by sea, that lie between Ses Penyes Roges cove and Santa Ponca cove which opens to the west. There is a calm residential feel to the quiet winding roads that descend to Santa Ponca beach. The well kept beach itself has many facilities such as straw sunshades and loungers, showers and pedal boats.

Santa Ponca has a rich history and it was here that King Jaime I landed in 1229 to conquer Mallorca, and a fiesta marking this event is held annually on September 9. It was here he began his conquest of Mallorca from the Moors, or "Mussulman Mayurqa" as it was known at the time. On the northern side of the bay is a defence tower known as the Castellot de Santa Ponca, built in the 14th century.

This sheltered marina extends down a long, thin cala, situated about 1.5 km from Santa Ponca itself. The nearby town is a busy tourist spot and offers full provisioning facilities, while within the cala itself, there is a yard offering expertise in most nautical problems, as well as a well-respected brokerage, restaurants and bars. One of the fuel pumps operates 24 hours for those who have Multicard.
