This is one of the best natural harbours on the island and a favourite stop-over place before setting off for Ibiza. Puerto Andraitx offers a full range of nautical services, and has many excellent bars and restaurants. The Club de Vela has a limited number of berths for cruising yachtsmen, and many boats try to find a space on the town quay or the pontoon opposite. During settled weather it is possible to anchor in the outer harbour, but the holding is poor due to excess weed coverage. If a storm does blow up and you are unable to get your anchor to hold it is possible to seek shelter in the inner, fishermen's, harbour where the bottom is glutinous mud, but you will be told to move directly the bad weather is over. The town of Andraitx is 6km away from the port and has an open-air market every Wednesday. There is a regular bus service from the port to Palma and other nearby towns.
