Portals Nous is a modern development which has been based around an old parish. Situated approximately halfway along the Calvia coastline approximately 10 km from Palma. The Calvia coastline is characterised by attractive heath and woodland reaching down to many of its wide numerous sandy beaches, hence the development in the past few decades of such popular holiday destinations of Magaluf and Palma Nova. Portals Nous has fortunately avoided the the raucous sprawl of many Spanish resorts, indeed it cannot be classed as a `resort´ at all. Comprising, mainly of a major centre for yachting and all other marine related facilities, an elegant waterfront complex, ensures that the visitor to Portal Nous arriving by sea or land is treated to a stroll through designer waterfront boutiques before relaxing with a drink or dining out on the `terraza´of one of the many fine restaurants and bars. Portals Nous provides an ample opportunity to sit and watch the world go by at a more relaxing pace in the most attractive and stylish of settings. Situated between two sandy beaches, the surrounding area of Portals Nous is residential, combining a skilful blend of luxury apartment blocks and villa-style houses in delightful tree-lined crescents and cul de sacs. There are many facilities that cater for both the holiday-maker and the long-term visitor. A visit to the dolphinarium at Marineland is one of the main attractions for many visitors to the island. In addition to this the area boasts some of the best Golf courses that Spain has to offer. Getting there from Palma is fast and efficient as it is served by excellent road links. There is also a regular year-round bus service which takes approximately 20 minutes from the centre of Palma. For those in favour of more nautical pursuits Portals Nous makes a popular destination for a days sailing providing a safe anchorage on both sides of the marina. The visitor to Portals Nous is treated therefore to a different style of entertainment than one would expect from theneighbouringg large resorts. A place that is definitely more up-market, where one can rub shoulders with the rich and famous whilst relaxing in comfortable surroundings or pursuing the most leisurely of pursuits.
