In April 1991, the Archipelago of Cabrera was declared a Maritime and Terrestrial National Park.
As with the other National Parks, the principal objectives of Cabrera National Park are to protect the site, the flora and the fauna, both terrestrial and marine, and to promote educational and cultural activities which lead to a better understanding of this natural area.
Values of Cabrera requires the control of activities which were formerly uncontrolled, which you, as a visitor, must be aware of:
A permit is required to navigate within the limits of the National Park, excluding some restricted areas. Actually, it's not so pragmatic. As soon as you anchor, a fellow will come on a dinghy to verify the name of the boat. After verifying no other burocracy is required.
Up to fifty vessels a day are permitted to anchor in the Port of Cabrera. Anchoring permits are valid for ona night in the months of July and August, for two nights in June and September, and up to seven nights for the rest of the year. Diurnal anchoring is allowed in special areas, marked on the map, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This Mooring is is possible only ay the warf and with a military permit or in case of emergency.
Disembarkation is only permitted at the main wharf of the Port of Cabrera. On disembarking, you must show your anchoring permit to the Park Information Office. The landing of domestic animals is prohibited.
A diving permit can be obtained to allow scuba diving within certain areas of the Park. The permit must be presented to the Park Information Office at the Port of Cabrera, before you dive.
This Sport fishing is strictly prohibited within the limits of the National Park.
