Torshöfn

It is no coincidence that the northeast of Iceland attracts more tourists every year. This is an area of great natural beauty and interesting human life. In the east of Öxafjörður heath is the district of Þistilfjörður and Langanes peninsula with the village of Þórshöfn, an old trading centre. 

The view in Þistilfjörður and Langanes peninsula is panoramic and beautiful in good weather, especially in the middle of the summer. But those who plan to visit should keep in mind that the weather can be changeable. It is advisable to bring along warm clothing and a raincoat for outdoor life.

There is a hotel, guesthouse and camp site in the village and accommodations are available at farm holidays and in sleeping bag accommodations for groups. There is a restaurant, swimming pool and a training centre with sauna and solarium. There is horseback riding at Ytra Áland, several rivers are available for angling both salmon and trout. 
The egg picking season in Langanes lasts from May 15th until June15th. Ideal for birdwatchers, nature lovers and all those who would like to observe or take part in gathering eggs from the steep fowling cliffs. There are scheduled guided tours to Langanes.
