Borgarnes

Borgarnes is the hub of the Borgarfjörður area, and the center of West Iceland as many routes run through it. In Borgarnes is the main Information Center , which one can always pay a visit. Borgarfjörður is steeped in history and places of interest are many. Reykholt, where famous saga writer Snorri Sturluson resided is always worth a visit, as well as local farming museum at Hvanneyri. Many of nature's wonders are to be found in Borgarfjörður such as Hraunfossar falls and Víðgemlir cave, and in Borgarnes is a burial mound since viking times.
