Akranes

This area is unique in many ways. Hvalfjörður is considered to be one of the most beautiful fjords in Iceland and prides itself of the highest waterfall in Iceland, Glymur. No one will be disappointed taking the scenic route around the fjord. The other option is to take the subsea tunnel that runs under Hvalfjörður. Akranes is a very typical Icelandic town where the old an new blend together. Hiking trails lead to the top of Akrafjall and there are many places of interest to visit at Akranes, such as local museum Garðar and the Old Lighthouse
