Porkala

The cape of Porkala was a military base of the Sovjet Unioin during 1944-1956. Almost 10 000 inhabitants and 8000 domestic animals were evacuated from their homes in only 8 days. Now in the 21st century the old inhabitants have gradually forgotten their bitterness and today the Finns have found an interest in the history of the Porkala region.
