Guatemala

Guatemala is a "relatively" small country, but road distances here cannot immediately be translated into hours to travel. 30 miles from point A to point B are not what you are used to, what in my home country may take 20 minutes to drive, in Guatemala it may take a couple of hours and in some case days. Its surface area is 108,889 square km. Guatemala has a very diverse topography which in turn contributes to the different micro-climates, yet never really any extreme temperatures. Its beaches are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean in the North East and by the Pacific Ocean in the South. Guatemala has nearly 11 million inhabitants and 55% of the population are descendants of the Mayas, and they speak 23 different languages.
