Milos

Milos is the most southerly island in the Western Cyclades. It is notable for its volcanic soil and for the rich deposits of minerals that lie beneath. It has a distinctive horseshoe shape.Milos is best known all over the world for the famous statue of Aphrodite which was found here. There are various kinds of beaches in Milos. Some of them are wonderful beaches with golden sand and some of them have sharp rocks and caves that look like they have been taken out from some tale. Any traveller going to Milos will surely be pleased from the sites of the island and the touristic infrastructure.

History

The civilization of Milos is considered to be as ancient as that of Crete, and spans a period of at least 5,000 years. Its fame spread throughout the civilized world thanks to the masterpiece of the Venus de Mile, a statue found buried on the island in the 19th century and now in the Louvres Museum in Paris.
