Tversted

Sheltered behind the dunes of Tannis bay lies Tversted. The five hundred inhabitants of Tversted make a serious effort to maintain the original environment, identity and traditions of this cosy village.

More than a hundred years have passed since the first tourists discovered Tversted, and a stroll through the village shows that this is a place where the beautiful old houses are kept in the style of the local area, and where tourists may feel well received and welcome.

The broad, white beach and the snug dunes of Tversted stretch for many kilometres. This is a playground for children and adults alike, and perfect for hiking, no matter the season. The blue flag is raised on the beach and invites you to take a swim in the fresh, salty ocean.

Wonderful outdoor experiences also await you at the Tversted lakes. The beautiful lakes, flanked on one side by a plantation and a mill and on the other by the dunes and the sea, offer a magnificent view that is rich on contrast.

It is an obvious possibility to bring along the bicycle and experience the surrounding area by riding along the many beautifully laid bicycle paths that lead into the countryside.

The Uggerby and Tversted brooks offer some wonderful trout fishing. On the beach you will be able to see the local spare time fishermen as they sail out to place their nets.

Quite many artists and artisans have settled in the area and get a lot of inspiration from it, which they then use in their production of, amongst other things, pottery, paintings and graphic artwork, candles, and amber artwork. Many workshops are open to the public.

Apart form all of this, Tversted offers everything else you may need to make your vacation an enjoyable one:

Charming shops, wonderful restaurants, a hotel, two camping grounds, and a lot of excellent, well-equipped holiday houses in beautiful surroundings.
