Stevns

The Elf King's Land
Stevns is a natural peninsula with an exceptional and exciting coastline, the 15-kilometre-long and nearly 41-metre-high cliffs. There are three beauty spots that you should not miss: Holtug Kridtbrud (chalk pit), Højerup and Boesdal Kalkbrud (lime quarry).

Stevns is washed by the waves of the Baltic in the north, east and south, and to the west is Stevns River Valley with all its scenic values. No wonder that in the past Stevns was considered to be an island community.

With its scenery, culture and environment, Stevns offers several fine experiences. We have a charming medieval market town, Store Heddinge, characterized by its pretty octagonal St. Katharina Church, and our many small and bigger villages are also worth a visit with their rich art life, museums etc. On the south coast is Rødvig, a fishing hamlet with a yacht harbour and in the north is Bøgeskoven with its picturesque harbour and Gjorslev Castle.

It is also in Stevns that you will find legendary Elverhøj (Elf Hill), home of the Elfin people and elf girls with hollow backs.
We look forward to your visit and we hope that you will care for our beautiful nature just as we do. Sincerely welcome to Stevns!
