Søby |
Søby is an exciting town with a lively traffic as well as ae fishing port and a traffic port. Søby has also the biggest workplace, the shipbuilding yard with constrution and repair docks. The town is cozy with winding narrow streets crossing each other on the way up from the harbor. The church which is from 1745 was originally built as a chapel but was later extended.
From Søby there is a ferry to Faaborg on Fyn and a smaller ferry to Mommark on Als. South of Søby is Vitsø Nor and Låddenbjerg plantation situated where a lot of birds live and breed.
From Søby it is possible to drive to the westernmost point of Ærø Skjoldnæs, where the lighthouse guides the ships safely into the waters of Lillebælt.
