Saeby

This picturesque and charming town is a perfect example of an idyllic Danish market town. From the town, which is situated right on the sea, you have direct access to the wide and safe beach of the east coast. Characterized by the many yellow plastered houses and the cosy fishing and yachting harbour, Sæby is one of the most attractive holiday destinations of Denmark.

The history of Sæby is closely linked to the sea and the small stream that runs through the town. Already during the Viking Age, the town prospered as a harbour town, and by the Middle Ages, Sæby had gained great importance as a monastery town and as the harbour of "Børglumbispen" (the Bishop of Børglum). Today, the large abbey church by the harbour and the Manor House of Sæbygaard remind us of the glorious days that the town experienced during the 16th century.

Since the end of the 19th century, Sæby has attracted many artists and tourists because of the charm of the town and its ideal location – Sæby is situated between the beach on one side and areas of forest on the other side.
