Middelfart

The town of bridges, on the Little Belt

The charming old trading port which lies between two bridges offers a marvelous combination of bustle, things to do and peace and quiet.

Whatever your budget, you will find somewhere to stay: hotels (in fact Middelfart has the only 5 star hotel on the island), holiday centres, holiday homes, camping sites, bed and breakfast and marinas.

There are several alternative marinas

Middelfart old harbour

Middelfart Kongebrohavn

Middelfart Marina

Svinø Bådehavn

Middelfart marinas between the two bridges across the Little Belt: an enchanting town atmosphere.

Middelfart is also justly famous for its selection of excellent places to eat.

The Museum of Ceramics, "Grimmerhus", is one of the most attractive museums in all of Denmark where nature, architecture and ceramic art form a beautiful whole. But it is far from the only place worth visiting. Hindsgavl Castle stages classical music concerts in the summer and has delightful grounds. There is also the Church of St. Nikolai and the Middelfart Museum, which has the finest collection of hats in Denmark, a comprehensive exhibition about the older bridge across the Belt and a whole range of special exhibitions during the year.
You can also visit Denmark’s largest permanent exhibition of construction at the "Byggecentrum", which has more than 17,500 square meters displaying world-class Danish craftsmanship.
Boat trips and fishing expeditions attract visitors of all ages throughout the summer.

Båring Vig
The fertile countryside in Nørre Åby stretches from coast to coast, from Båring Vig in the north to Føns Vig and Gamborg Fjord in the south. The beaches are suitable for the whole family, and large stretches of the 33 km of coastline have been awarded the Blue Flag environmental certificate. The well-constructed roads and paths are ideal for hiking or cycling. There are excellent camping sites and holiday homes in the areas towards the Little Belt and the Kattegat.

If you are looking for a genuine idyll in beautiful surroundings by the Little Belt, then look no further than Føns, which also has a well equipped angling centre. In this area you can enjoy the flora, fauna and spectacular views on the long Fønskov peninsula with its beach pools, as well as at Gardersø, Springbakke, Boyes Banke and the Ørslev "mountains".
