Kolding

Kolding is centrally located on the east coast of Jutland - with the north-south and east-west motorways meeting and crossing just outside the town. Kolding is a place where there are lots of things happening all year round, but the town is also only an hour’s drive from the Danish-German border, the North Sea, the town of Århus and Hans Christian Andersen’s house in Odense, and no more than two hours away from the famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.

Koldinghus Castle - towers majestically above the town centre. Built in 1268, Koldinghus has been fully restored and now stands as a world-class architectural treasure.

Just outside the town centre - and overlooking the fjord is the Trapholt Museum of Modern Art, housing collections of modern Danish art and furniture designed by world-famous Danish designers. On the outskirts of Kolding are the Geographical Gardens, with plants and bushes from all around the world. In the heart of the town is the “Legeparken” amusement park, while the Slotssøbadet complex in the middle of the town contains water slides, swimming-pools, “Roman baths” and much, much more.

As for shopping - Kolding has more than 200 specialist shops, lining the numerous pedestrian-only streets. There is always something happening here, from music in the streets in summer to the Christmas market in December. Outside Kolding is the Kolding Storcenter shopping centre - 60 specialist shops and a discount hypermarket under one roof.
