Bornholm is a unique piece of Denmark. This Baltic island is Denmark’s only cliff-island. Even so, it has unrivalled variation in its scenery - with more hours of sunshine, less rain and longer summers, thanks to the warm Baltic waters.
There are wide expanses of silver, hour-glass fine sand, dramatic cliff-faces, deep quarries, vast tracts of woodland, Denmark’s two biggest waterfalls and one of the country’s highest hills. Here rare animals live and exotic plants and fruit grow. All on just 587 sqkm and within a total coastline of 141 km, with the country’s closest network of small roads and 45,000 inhabitants.
