It is possible to anchor S of this small island, located N of Stavns Fjord, if you stay just E of the fish farm. This location is just off the fairway so there will be stern waves from passing boats. In S winds and when you approach the island from the N, you can anchor W of Kyholm. At present Kyholm is uninhabited. Throughout history, the island was used as a quarantine station; in the 18th century when the Black Death ravaged the country, and in the 19th century during the big cholera epidemics when foreign ships had to moor up here until it had been established they had no disease on board. The island still bears the marks of that time and of its past. Landing at Kyholm is not permitted between sunset and sunrise. |

You can also anchor E of the island, in Vejrø Sund, and N of the island where you should, however, be on the lookout for rocks. These two locations are recommended for anchorage only in fine weather. It is to this side
of the island that the high-speed CatLink ferry sails, on its
route between Århus and Kalundborg.
Landing at Vejrø is not permitted between sunset and sunrise. The nearby Bosserne is a seal sanctuary and therefore landing there is not permitted from 1st April until 1st October. Access is permitted during the day to Besser Rev, although not from the side facing the sea, until after 30th June. Read more about Vejrö
