Hjelm

10.48 E 56.08 N

In SE-NE winds anchorage is possible N of the small tongue of land stretching W. In a NW-N wind anchorage is possible S of the tongue. Both places are rather exposed but can certainly be used in calm weather for brief visit to the island. The seabed is sand and shingle.
The former mooring buoy has been removed. Two yellow buoys, marked FV, have been placed for official purposes only to the W and NE of the island. They may not be used for mooring.

Bönnerup - Grenaa - Ebeltoft

Ebeltoft Vig

In most of the cove the water is deep enough to allow anchoring quite close to the shore, especially in the W and N parts. However, beware of the danger zone in the N part. The seabed is sandy. Another good location for anchoring is near the windmill park in the SE part of the cove, just to the NW of Ebeltoft ferry port.

Rygård Strand

S of the eastern edge of the firing range. The seabed is sandy. Sheltered from SE-SW winds.

Gjerrild Nordstrand

This anchorage is recommended by the locals. Shelter from winds from S - SW. At several places between Gjerrild lighthouse and Stavnshoved it is possible to anchor close to the shore. The seabed is stone and gravel.

Gjerrild Bugt

There are several places where one can moor quite close to the coast near the striking cliffs. There is shelter from SW winds. This bay is a good place to visit for lunch.

Store Sandvig and Lille Sandvig

There are two bays, just to the N of Fornæs lighthouse, sheltered from SW-W winds. The seabed is sandy.

Jernhatten

Anchorage at the mouth of the river. Approach from the S in order to avoid the rocky shallows of “Blak”. Sheltered from winds from the W-NW. The seabed is gravel and stone. A good anchorage, with walks nearby in the nature reserve inland. Good views from Jernhatten.

Anholt / North Coast

The bay E of the sandbank to the NW is sheltered from SW-SE winds. The seabed is sandy.

Anholt / Pakhusbugten

There is shelter here from W-N winds. The seabed is sandy. There are several places to anchor in the bay in the lee of the dunes. Beware of the sand bars so as not to sail behind them.
Before Anholt harbour was opened, this is where ships bringing supplies to the island anchored. The countryside on this part of the island is exceptional, and is also known as “the desert”. All the trees were cut down for firewood and no new ones were planted. Access to the NE part of the island is prohibited as it is a seal sanctuary.

The Bay of Århus

There are many protected coves in the area which are ideal for anchorage.

Moesgaard Strand

The mouth of Giber Å 

Abelshoved

The woodland provides perfect shelter from W winds. The seabed offers the best hold around the mouth of Giber Å (sand and pebbles). Moesgaard Museum, which is situated approximately 1 km inland, has marked out an ancient path which leads you through the ancient history of the woods and buildings

Løgten Bugt

Shelter from N and W winds. The seabed does not offer the best of holds (mud). If you follow the road along the coast north you reach the inn Løgten Gl. Strandkro.

Knebel Vig

Knebel Vig is a large natural harbour with good possibilities for anchorage. Depending on the direction of the wind, you can choose to anchor in either the N or SE part of the cove. Despite a thin layer of mud, the seabed offers a good hold.

Begtrup Vig

Despite the large opening towards the W, Begtrup Vig is nevertheless a good natural harbour. Depending on the direction of the wind, anchorage is possible in the NW, N or S part of the cove. Even in a strong W wind, the N part of the cove E of Rønnen offers shelter from the sea. Rønnen must not be entered in the period 1/3 - 1/7 as it is a bird sanctuary, with many nesting then. The seabed consists of sand and pebbles.

Egens Vig

The anchor buoys are situated just beneath the ruins of Kalø Castle which is a very popular tourist attraction in the Bay of Århus. It is recommended that you anchor in the NW part of the cove which is also where the buoys have been laid out. This area is protected against
W-N winds. The seabed is sand and pebbles, and the hold is good whereas it is rather poor in the rest of the cove (mud).

Anchorages Samsø - Tunø - Hou

Tunø

The area immediately N of the harbour has good anchorage. It is well protected against W and N winds. The seabed offers good holding (sand). Approximately 50 m from the shore the depth of the water is 2 m. To reach the area sail right up to the harbour entrance, then change direction towards your chosen spot. Beware of the cable felt which is marked by beacons.

Northern Samsø

In E winds you can anchor W of the viewpoint on Ballebjerg. The N part of Nordby Bugt as well as the area W of Ballebjerg viewpoint are good starting points for a walk in the hills of Nordby Bakker. These impressive hills are in a conservation area with marked footpaths.
Beware of the power cable. In W winds, which tend to prevail, it is best to anchor in the bay Nordby Bugt where the seabed is sand and clay

Kyholm

It is possible to anchor S of this small island, located N of Stavns Fjord, if you stay just E of the fish farm. This location is just off the fairway so there will be stern waves from passing boats. In S winds and when you approach the island from the N, you can anchor W of Kyholm.

At present Kyholm is uninhabited. Throughout history, the island was used as a quarantine station; in the 18th century when the Black Death ravaged the country, and in the 19th century during the big cholera epidemics when foreign ships had to moor up here until it had been established they had no disease on board. The island still bears the marks of that
time and of its past as an entrenchment (see Langør Havn). Landing at Kyholm is not permitted between sunset and sunrise.

Langør

You can anchor NE of Armhoved before you reach the green buoy. The area is protected against SW-W winds. The seabed is sandy.
Another location is NW of a line drawn between the point of Lilleøre and the green buoy off Langør. The seabed is very soft (mud).
Even if it is possible to find other locations for anchorage further into Stavns Fjord, these are recommended for day trips only. In the event of sudden wind changes it would be impossible to find your way out through the unmarked fairway at night. In Stavns Fjord it is not permitted to go ashore at any time of the year, except on the two islands of Svœrmen and Lindholm where you may go ashore after 30th June during daylight hours

Vejrø

Vejrø is situated approximately 4 nm NE of the mouth of Stavns Fjord. It is possible to anchor SW of the island quite close to the shore. This location faces the fairway “Lindholm Dyb” which is frequented by quite large ships (such as the Århus-Kalundborg ferry). You can also anchor E of the island, in Vejrø Sund, and N of the island where you should, however, be on the lookout for rocks. These two locations are recommended for anchorage only in fine weather.

It is to this side of the island that the high-speed CatLink ferry sails, on its route between Århus and Kalundborg.
The seabed is sand and pebbles.
Vejrø is one of the largest uninhabited islands in Denmark. In the past, it was used by Brattingsborg Manor for grazing cattle. Two herdsmen lived on the island at that time and the remains of their dwelling can still be seen at the western end of the island.

Landing at Vejrø is not permitted between sunset and sunrise. The nearby Bosserne is a seal sanctuary and therefore landing there is not permitted from 1st April until 1st October.

Access is also permitted during the day to Besser Rev, although not from the side facing the sea until after 30th June.

Langør and Lilleøre

At Lilleøre - pos.: 55º 55'5 N / 10º 39'0 E (2 buoys)
Between Langør and Lilleøre - pos.: 55º 54'9 N / 10º 38'8 E (4 buoys).

SAMSØLAKS A/S has placed 6 buoys, which the company itself uses in the winter, for use by all pleasure craft from 15th May until 1st September. The buoys are yellow.

Anchorages south of Funen

Vornæs Pynt

(NØ-siden af Vornæs ved den vestlige indsejling til Svendborgsund). God for vinde fra S-SV-V (vestlig vind kan give lidt sø). Drop ankeret lidt sønden for båken. God holdebund, når du kommer ind på 2-2,5 m vand. Gå ikke for langt ind i bunden, hvor der er fladvand og sten.

Vornæs Skov

(V-siden af Vornæs). God for vinde fra Ø-SØ. Godt læ sønden for båken. Du kan gå langt ind under kysten og finde et læbælte. God holdebund i sand.

Revkrogen v. Avernakø

God for vinde fra S-SV-V-NV. Der kan være lidt vindblæst ved vinde fra S-V; men holdebunden er god (sand), når bare du kommer godt ind under kysten. De fleste ankrer for langt ude, hvor der dels er dybt (5-10 m) og dels dårlig holdebund. Er der trængsel i Revkrogen og måske for blæsende, kan man flytte lidt nord på under Ravnebjerg - gå godt uden om 3 m grunden i kortet, der ligger en del store sten fra grunden og ind mod land.

Ravnebjerg

Ravnebjerg (mellem skrænten v. Ravnebjerg og Nakkeodde). God for vinde fra SV-V-NV. Du kan gå forholdvis langt ind under land og finde læ under skrænten eller træerne også i kulingsvejr. Hvor der er sten på stranden, kan du også finde nogle længere ude, men der er god holdebund i området.

N-siden af Ravnebjerg

SV for vinkelfyret på N-siden af Ravnebjerg. God for vinde fra Ø-SØ. Det bedste område er 2-300 m inden for fyret, hvor du kan finde en sandplet at ankre på. Er det kulingsvejr eller er der for mange naboer kan du flytte nord på til Hansebugten.

Hansebugten

Hansebugten. God for vinde fra N-NØ-Ø-SØ. Ved SØ-lige vinde kan du gå ind ud for Nabbe i kortet, der er god holdebund på 2-3 m vand. Ved N-lige vinde kan du ligge under bevoksningen ved campingpladsen, hvor du kan gå langt ind under kysten. Har du jolle med, kan du købe rundstykker i kiosken om morgenen.

Dyreborg

Dyreborg. Der er som regel trængsel i den lille havn. Men øst for havnen ud mod Alsgaardshoved er der gode pladser for vinde fra V-NV-N - og så er der så kønt en stille sommeraften med havblik og ankerlanternen i forstaget!

Lyø Rev (østsiden)

Lyø Rev (østsiden). God for vinde fra V-NV. Der kan være lidt blæsende, men der er god holdebund, når man kommer ind på sandbunden. Sommerdage er her trængsel.

Lyø Rev (vestsiden)

Lyø Rev (vestsiden). God for vinde fra Ø-SØ. Her finder du Sydfyns reneste sandbund. Du kan gå ind og ankre på 2-3 m vand - helt grønt vand. Det er en fornøjelse at tage sin morgendukkert her.

Urehoved (Revkrogen v. Ærøskøbing)

Urehoved (Revkrogen v. Ærøskøbing). Med vinde fra NØ kan du ligge under kysten lige rundt nordspidsen ved 2,8 m dybden i kortet. Med vinde fra Ø-SØ kan du ligge længere inde (ud for strandhusene). Her er sandbund at ankre på - dejlig grønt vand.

Dejrø

Dejrø (i bugten der vender ind mod Ærøskøbing). God ved vinde fra Ø.

Lindelse Nor

Lindelse Nor (under Højklint). God for vinde fra NØ-Ø-SØ. Her kommer ikke så mange sejlere (endnu!). Hver opmærksom på indsejlingen til noret - du skal godt sønden i. Der er normalt ingen afmærkning. Hvis du har mod på en anden ankerplads i noret og lidt navigation, så kan du for V-lig vind ankre under Bukø eller Langø.

Thurø 

Thurø (under Østerskov). God for vinde fra SV-V-NV. Du kan gå ind hvor der står 2,5 m i kortet og finde sandbund. Her er god læ for vestenvinden.

Grasten 

Grasten (nord for anløbsbroen). God for vinde fra NØ-Ø-SØ. God holdebund, når du går helt ind i læ af træerne på linie med anløbsbroen. Vær opmærksom på strømmen i Svendborgsund, som under rolige vindforhold skifter ca. hver 6 time

Anchorages west of Bogense

Koldingfjorden

Yderst på Koldingfjordens sydside findes nogle træbroer - ejet af 3 sejlklubber - er der plads ved broerne er man normalt velkommen til at ligge der (gratis) - der er gode travemuligheder i skoven.

Fænøsund  

I Fænøsund er der gode ankringsmuligheder under Fænø, men sørg for at ankre på 3-4 m grunden hvor strømmen ikke løber så stærkt. I kan også søge længere ind i Gamborgfjorden, hvis I vil have mere fred og ro.

Tybrind Vig

I Tybrind Vig på nordsiden af Wedelsborg Hoved er der en god plads for S og SØ vind.

Årø

Vil I opleve et lille dansk øsamfund kan I besøge havnen på Årø. Kom mellem 1200 - 1300 så er chancerne for en plads størst.

Haderslev Fjord 

En køn gammel købstad finder I efter en smuk sejltur op ad Haderslev Fjord med ankerpladser på vejen. Husk afmærkningen ;-)

Genner Bugt  

Genner Bugt skal næsten også besøges. Der er ankerpladser på sydsiden og inde i bunden nor for broerne. Der er et godt lille museum ved hotellet.

Dyvig

Ved indsejlingen til Als Sund ligger på Als ankerpladsen Dyvig - meget smuk - meget besøgt - meget international - den skal man næsten besøge.

Helnæs

På Fynssiden inde bag ved Helnæs helt oppe i bunden ligger der er en 30 m bakke Elmebjerg - her ankrer man godt i læ af bakken, når der er kuling fra vest. Her er fredeligt - langt fra turistruten. Man kan godt gå længere op i bugten; men der skal navigeres omhyggeligt, der er ingen afmærkning.
