The southernmost of the island, known for its beautiful landscapes. On Sušuroy there are many scenic views - a real pearl for a photo safari.
At Skśvanes - a half hour drive south from the town Vįgur - and on Hesturin - along the mountain road to the village Sumba (a road tunnel is also leading to Sumba) magnificent views of bird-cliffs seen from the top will be found. The edges of the bird cliffs are just a few yards from the road. These spots are accessible for even the poorest walking persons.
The northernmost village Sandvķk is a small cosy and picturesque village situated at the bottom of a shallow fjord. A narrow road to the west coast leads to an area with many particular sights and a rich life of seabirds.
Coal is mined from the seams south of the village Hvalba.
The village Fįmjin is on the west coast. In the church you will find the original Faroese flag - Merkiš - The flag was made in 1919, but not legally recognized until 1940.
A short (walking-) trip north from Fįmjin leads to the lake Kirkjuvatn, one of those typical Faroese places, calm and quiet, where one can sit down and relax and let peace creep into ones mind.
Just west of the towns Vįgur and Hvalba, on Vįgseiši and Hvalbiareiši respectively are beautiful views of the west coast and their steep bird cliffs.
Fish processing factories are in Tvųroyri, Vįgur and Hvalba.
As everywhere else in The Faroe Islands, angling - both in lakes and at sea - is a very present possibility.
Tours may be planned in co-operation with the various hotels/youth hostels, or with the Tourist Information offices.
Mountain walking for inexperienced is not recommended, as the mountainsides are rather steep and with large rocks.
The island is very well suited for bus tours. The roads are passing many beautiful and interesting points.

Hvalbiareiši west of Hvalba. Both are old landing-sites for fishing boats, very beautiful and interesting.
