The island, that is around 22 kilometers long, has over 100.000 olive trees. The island is dotted with villages, the principal of which is Preko, ferry port and important maritime station. In front of  the Jaz bay, noted for its fine sand, rises the idyllic islet of Skoljie, covered with pines and palms. Just as idyllic it is the islet of Oskljak, with its cypresses and the picturesque village of fishermen and sailors. The tourist village Kukljica boasts very handsome beaches that stretch on both coasts of the long island.

From Ugljan one can easily reach the island of Pasman across the narrow straight of Zdrilac. Earlier this arm of sea could be crossed by feet. Later, in  1883, it was considered seaworthy and, ninety years later a bridge allows communication by feet from an island to the other. Pasman is calmer than Ugljan, but resembles her much: olives green silvered and adorable beaches.

On the island there is also a camp for nudist, near the village of Tkon. Iz, the islet that separates Ugljan from Dugi otok, boasts the presence of a a unique botany and the absence of cars. Two more reasons for visiting Iz, is a pageant and some violent dances when old people dance with  young people.

A yachtsman must visit the island of Rava, with its clement climate and coasts.

Dugi otok (long island) has a surface of 144 sq km.

The Telascica inlet is one of the biggest natural harbors of the Adriatico, but also a natural park in which the muflons live and proliferate in liberty. Along the west coast you will find numerous beaches embed in ample inlets.

Among all, the most interesting is maybe that of Saharun, ridden from a tall lighthouse 41 meters called Veils rat. The lighthouse had built in the 1949 and his plaster has been mixed with 100.000 yolks of egg for defend it good from the action of the salinity and of the sun.

To the lovers of the nature, then, won't escape the flourishing pine trees of Bozava. Salts, the island more populous center, has always lived of fishing. And the rhythm of the nets, that they lower themselves and they retire full of fish, scans a simple life, but also rich of important values.

And G. B. Shaw, told, changing on the theme: "Gods wanted to crown their creative opera. Therefore, the last day, from the tears, from the stars and from the marine breeze created them islets Crown." The caption changes a little then, but doesn't change the amazement and the marvel that conquers who locates to pass near to this crown of 140 islands, islets and cliffs, real jewels of the Mediterranean.
