Marinas |
In the Croatian archipelago there are more than 40 marinas.
Half of them belong to the well organised and well kept ACI, Adriatic Croatia International Club, a joint-stock company with the state as a partowner.
The service that the marinas can offer is competitive with the high standard in the Mediterranean. They are well supplied with water, electricity, fuel, sanitary conveniences, equipment for launching and taking boats up. They also offer waste disposal management and enviromental protection.
In the marinas there are usually shops, exchange offices, as well as restaurants with a large range of sea food specialities.
Since new categorization of the parts of nautical tourism is to be implemented in Croatia, all the marinas invest into raising the quality of the service, "earning" in this way as many goldstars as possible.
Many of the marinas give great importance to social community and comfortableness between the crews.
They do not only attempt to be a dock for the boat, a nice place for relaxation, but also try to function as a club for people who love boating and who perhaps enjoy to gather at the bar for a conversation over a glass of "Pivo".

The marina has 380 sea-berths up to 15 m (four-point moor) and 120 dry-berths. Water and electricity hook-ups are on pontoon piers and on the pier. The marina is open all year round. | Krk | 45° 10.6'N 14° 34.5'E | town (pop. 3,022 in 1991) and har- bour in the NW part of Krcki zaljev (Krk Bay). |
The harbour is open to the sirocco and partly protected from the bora (EENE); it offers very good shelter in all other winds. The safest mooring during the sirocco (waves splash over the breakwater) for larger vessels is on the inner side of the E mole (depth 3.54.0 m), which is otherwise reserved for ships of the coastal passengers lines, and for smaller vessels deeper in the harbour. The best mooring during the bora is along the quay between the two moles (four-point moor). The breakwater is not accessible because of shoals and scattered stones. Facilities: Harbour master's office, post office, medical service, chemist's, museum, travel agency, several hotels, camp site, shops, shipyard. Lovrata Fishing Club and Plav Sailing and Rowing Club. Water from the hydrant at the entrance mole; fuel in the harbour at the small mole and in the W part of the harbour. The Riba shipyard carries out general repairs including diesel engine repairs; hauling-out service. |
| Senj | 44° 59.4'N 14° 54'E | town (pop. 5,998 in 1991) and harbour in Velebitski kanal. |
The harbour is open to the NW; the most dangerous wind is the bora which most frequently blows from ENE and often reaches gale-force. It comes very suddenly and therefore the har- bour is not safe. The bora is heralded by a clear blue sky above the harbour and thick white clouds with a clearly outlined horizontal edge over the Velebit Mountains. Sometimes tiny clouds separate from the white cloud and are carried towards SW by the bora. The best mooring is by the quay between the two moles. When mooring by the Marija Art breakwater, care should be taken of the underwater bank. The best mooring in the sirocco is by the Sv Nikola mole. Other sheltered anchorages in the vicinity are Spasovac (1 M south) and Jelena (1 M north). Some 500 m NE of the harbour is an underwater pipeline (35m off the waterfront). Facilities: Senj is a permanent port of entry with customs, harbour master's office, post office, hospital, medical service, chemist's, hotel, several restaurants and shops. Kanj Fishing Club. Water from the hydrant on the mole of Sv Nikola; good shopping for provisions; fuel at the petrol pump some 100m N of the harbour. |
