Calvi |
A roman port at the beginning of Christian times, Calvi has often been the site of historic moments in seafaring: it was a Genovese trading post for over four hundred years, as well as being the possible birthplace of Columbus, and the supposed site at which Admiral Nelson lost his sight while taking the city. Calvi has lost nothing of its love for travel. This historical attachment for the sea can be seen through the relics of Calvi’s glorious past, which the community is very careful to preserve.
Geographically, there is something for everyone here, from beautiful beaches and the island’s premier sailing port, to lush pine forests.
