Hotels in Nida are a dime a dozen. We couldn't possibly list them all since new ones spring up all the time. There are 'rest homes' everywhere and people let their flats during the summer months. Keep in mind that Nida is small and easily crossed on foot, so location shouldn't factor into your choice as much as price and atmosphere do. To ensure that you get to stay at your first-choice hotel, book early (months before you know you're even going to Nida ideally). Keep in mind that prices change - down in winter, up in summer. The following are the prices we were quoted for summer 1998. Breakfast is included unless noted otherwise.

Isolated up on a pine-covered hill, the Golden Dunes has a more taken-care-of feel to it than its neighbour Ruta. It's close to the beach and frequented by families. Amenities include sauna, Turkish bath, indoor/outdoor pool and conference hall. Bike rental is available to hotel guests and visitors. Keep in mind that they open their pool to the public in the summer. Those families with little kids might not appreciate the loud pool parties they celebrate most summer evenings. Higher prices are effective July 11 - Sept 1; cheaper prices are valid June 1 - July 10. An extra bed costs 60Lt (30Lt for children under 12). Full board available. |
| Jurate 200 beds. (singles 100 - 150Lt, doubles 140 - 200Lt, suite 200 - 260Lt). |
Pamario 3, tel. (+370-59) 52 3000, fax (+370-59) 51 118. |
In the centre of town, this old-style (read: not renovated and with less-than-pleasing decor) hotel is chock-a-block full of tour groups (geriatric and German, mostly). Overpriced for the quality, but it's got a great location. Breakfast not included. Cheaper prices are for June; higher prices are for July and Aug. From Sept to May prices are slashed in half. |
| Lineja 26 rooms (singles 200Lt, doubles 240Lt, suites 380Lt). |
Taikos 18, tel. (+370-59) 52 390, fax (+370-59) 52 718. |
A modern hotel tucked into a residential area. Rooms are modern and simple and have a phone, refrigerator, balcony and satellite TV. Bowling lanes (60Lt/hr), bike rental (5Lt/hr) and sauna available. Breakfast not included. |
| Nidos Pusynas (100 - 200Lt/person). |
Purvynes 3, tel. (370-59) 52 221. |
A collection of historically important cottages scattered over a hill right near the lagoon. The hotel offers full board as well as excursions. We love this place for its cosy wood-panelled rooms, friendly staff and picturesque fisherman's cottages. They also have shacks without WC (see Cheap Sleeps). Next to the Thomas Mann House and a 15-minute walk to the town centre. |
| Rasyte 19 rooms (110Lt/person). |
Lotmiskio 11, tel. (370-59) 52 592. |
This cute wooden house, in the centre of town and run by charming and friendly folks, is the best place to stay in Nida. Rooms are cosy, simple and well priced. You need to book well in advance if you want to stay here. |
| Ruta 300 beds (doubles winter 100 - 120Lt, summer 200 - 240Lt). Administrator Korpus I tel. (370-59) 52 229. Administrator Korpus II tel. (370-59) 52 398. |
Kuverto 15, tel. (370-59) 52 367, fax (370-59) 52 819. |
Cheaper, smelly accommodations in one building are overpriced, but close to the beach. The cleaner and more well-kept rooms are the more expensive. Right next to Auksines Kopos Hotel, the territory around the Ruta is barren, but if you want to roll down the hill from your room to the beach then it's perfect. |
| Nidos Smilte 69 rooms (summer: 40 - 190Lt/person, winter: 40 - 95Lt/person). |
Skruzdynes 2, tel. (370-59) 52 221/52 219,
fax (370-59) 52 762. |
Run by the same folks at Nidos Pusynas, this friendly hotel is not nearly as cute on the outside as its sister hotel, but the rooms for 95Lt have renovated bathrooms and some rooms even have balconies. The rooms for 40Lt are old with separate toilet and shower. Breakfast costs 15Lt. |
| Laume 3 rooms (25 - 50Lt/person). |
Pamario 24-3a, tel. (370-59) 52 335. |
Right on the lagoon, this small guesthouse over a restaurant offers tiny rooms with a shared WC. No breakfast. |
| Nidos Pusynas (15 - 20Lt/person). |
Purvynes 3, tel. (370-59) 52 221. |
Stay in a small box-like shack, pay 2Lt for a shower, cart yourself across a road to use the bathroom and be happy you're saving so much money. Breakfast not included. |
