Faial |
Largest town on the island of Faial with one of three safe harbours in the Azores. In may-june a haven for yachtsmen. Scores of sexy and lonesome sailors have just arrived from the Carribean, and want a good time. Boatyards and provisions. Peters Café Sport. Beautiful island. Neighbor island of Pico with a 2400 m volcano must be visited. Ferry every other hour. |

The capital of the Azores. One of three safe harbours at the Azores. Simple approach. |
| Lajes |
Flores | The harbour is unprotected against E winds, but generally OK. Mooring at jetty is usually possible, but most people prefer anchoring. This is the first possible harbour for yachts coming from US and last outpost for those crazy enough to attempt to tack all the way to US. | |
| Pico | Several harbours, but none is safe. Since there are many fast and inexpensive ferries from Horta, you stay better at Horta. Pico sightseeing is a must. | ||
| Praia da Vitoria | Terciera | One of the three safa harbours. Marina is under construction but no available moorings at present. If you are lucky you can use an empty slot for free. Fresh water and power, but no shower or toilet. You can as an alternative anchor in the very large basin. | |
| Santa Cruz | Flores | This harbour is much smaller than you can imagine, the approach is terribly difficult and the protechtion you get is questionable. | |
| Vila da Praia | Graciosa | Good harbour except with winds from E. No restaurants but the cave in the volcano nearby, is worth a visit. | |
| Vila Nova | Corvo | Very small harbour, open to E winds. Possible to moor alongside breaker but the swells are bad. | |
