Kumlinge |
The area of the archipelago comprising Kumlinge Commune has been described as the most beautiful part of Åland. The main islands of Kumlinge, Enklinge, Seglinge and Björkö all have their own unique character. Other places well worth a visit are the church, pharmacy, the Fälberget memorial stone and the Sjölund farming museum on Kumlinge, the Hermas open air farm- museum on Enklinge and the smithy on Seglinge.
For the active there are hiking paths on Seglinge and bathing beaches on all three of the largest islands. Fishing permits for one of Ålands biggest fishing areas can be bought in, among other places, the shops and banks. An outstanding view can be had from the scenic beauty spot Vårholmsböte. The Archipelago Office on Kumlinge offers facilities for those who want to use information technology.
The Archipelago service ferries call into Kumlinge many times per day, leaving from Hummelvik, Långnäs and Osnäs. If you come with your own boat, the commune has four guest harbours to choose between. For fliers we can offer landing facilities at the arcipelago´s only airfield.
There are local ferries connecting the islands Enklinge and Seglinge with Kumlinge, as well as a subsidised taxi service operating on Seglinge and Kumlinge.
